Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed sheep's wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in soft, pleasant-to-the-touch wool. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years. Born from a climate with wide temperature swings between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot. And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may produce a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it beforehand.
