Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep in the direction of the pile to remove dirt and dust.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
