Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are hand-woven using plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with abundant natural oils for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that will be with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
Please note that this odor will gradually disappear with use.
