Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
