Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft and pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven with care by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Gabbeh rugs, when tightly woven, are exceptionally durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing overheating.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
