Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and has soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers containing a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we appreciate your understanding.
