Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms located on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
