Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in Iran's Zagros Mountains using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high fat content results in a soft, pleasant texture for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel, as they are hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original work.
They are perfect for placing on the floor, and even beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
