Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
These Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted strand by strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh that are tightly woven are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated shade.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
