Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with abundant lanolin, which helps in temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
