Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is soft and comfortable to the touch, containing a lot of oil to help with temperature regulation and possessing excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one strand at a time from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
Please note that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
