Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads from naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Tassels can be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can ship Gabbeh rugs with the tassels on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the tassels will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
