Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content, allowing for excellent temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
