Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils to regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment
If requested, we can ship your Gabbeh with the pompoms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
