Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a large amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads one by one with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
