Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, rooted in their daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture due to its high oil content, which helps in temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, of course, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls, not just on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
