Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand with this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like to have the pom-poms removed for shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
