Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of fat to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep in the direction of the pile to remove dirt and dust.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
