Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a Gabbeh that is soft and comfortable to the touch.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, making it incredibly durable.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, its artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
