Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads living in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often features animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
