Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile that is deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped in that condition if requested.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
