Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, along with a soft and pleasant texture containing a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please understand that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.

Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
