Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai people, nomadic tribes of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, who hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch for effective temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and cool and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
