Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to efficiently regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand by Iranian nomads who dye the wool with natural dyes and weave each strand meticulously, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time, one that is truly your own?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the wool dyes.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
