Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content makes it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to the handwoven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
