Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd sheep in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant feel with high oil content, allowing the sheep to thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and regulate their body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.
If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
