Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously knot by knot, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created by the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is an original, unique piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, meticulously wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed upon request
The tassels located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping upon your request. Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the tassels removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
