Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave it by hand using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel, as Iranian nomads dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand by hand.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their superior durability.
Gabbehs, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you notice dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
