Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with abundant oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, handcrafted by Iranian nomads by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously weaving each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh created by nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item, no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handwoven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
