Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of natural oil for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing imperfections. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
