Characteristics of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh rugs

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by hand by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and are deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Varied wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature well.

Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.

Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.

Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.

Daily care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.

For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.

Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.

The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
