Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to the high fat content that allows the sheep to regulate their body temperature effectively.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread after the wool is dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, of course, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads from their imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can ship the Gabbeh without the pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
