Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted, one by one, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a Gabbeh rug characterized by its soft and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
