Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, allowing for good body temperature regulation. Gabbehs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, strand by strand, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Strongly woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
