Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a rooted part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs, woven by Iranian nomads with wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Created in a climate with large temperature swings between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in heat.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbehs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
