Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted one by one by Iranian nomads, using wool dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, making them feel cool even in hot weather. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with no two being alike; each is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-knotted nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
