Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft texture containing a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.

Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
