Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted rugs rooted in the nomadic life of the Qashqai tribe, who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is sourced from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving it excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to help regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven individually by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust along the pile with a vacuum cleaner or broom.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung out towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to the handmade nature of the rug, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handmade item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
