Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave it from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, rich in natural oils for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture, as Iranian nomads carefully hand-weave each one using this naturally dyed wool.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And of course, there's its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please note that these are all part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request.
The pompoms located on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery if you request it.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
