Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs that are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective thermoregulation. Gabbeh rugs, with their wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
