Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The wool used in this product, called Persian Varianti, possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Gabbeh, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created by the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
It can be laid on the floor, of course, but it's also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh just for you, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and unevenness in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
