Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives and have a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbehs, made by Iranian nomads who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbehs, created in a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are also known to be warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And of course, there's their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
