Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully handwoven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
