Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically graze their livestock in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, so it doesn't feel hot. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
