Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours and can be used for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
