Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft texture containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. The Gabbeh, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, features a fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original item. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
