Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling hair.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, with a characteristic ability to not feel hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, inconsistencies in weaving, and irregularities in dyeing. Please note that these are all part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
