Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
