Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, as they are hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this natural dyed wool. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
