Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, created from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, feature many designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original creation. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
